Desmodur RC is the registered trademark of COVESTRO AG for a medium-reactivity hardener (crosslinker) for solvent-based adhesives based on natural rubber (cements), polychloroprene (contact adhesives, such as INSOCOL), and polyurethanes (plastic adhesives, such as PLASTIKOL). It is light in color and relatively less staining, particularly under the influence of light, compared to most hardeners with similar reactivity. Therefore, its use is especially recommended for bonding materials with light colors. The product enhances the resistance of joints to heat, grease, oils, plasticizers, and various organic solvents, as well as the adhesion to many difficult-to-bond rubbers. The product in its original tightly sealed aluminum container is stable for 6 months when stored in a dry and sheltered place. Once its use has begun, the product should be stored in its original container, tightly closed after each extraction, protected from moisture (which decomposes the product) and light. It is advisable to use it within a short period of time (a few days).
